Bola! Que bueno que viniste! forma parte de la pieza Reconexión y está basada en una pequeña canción que cantábamos mis hermanos y yo en el carro de regreso de casa de mi abuela. La teníamos que cantar justo en el momento en el que veíamos un espectacular sobre el Viaducto en la Ciudad de México que daba un efecto giratorio debido a sus luces. El primero en cantarla ganaba.
La pequeña melodía con letra la inventó mi madre para que no nos quedáramos dormidos y la cantamos por varios años de nuestra infancia hasta que nos aburrió o nos dio pena ajena.
Los primeros cinco compases de la pieza comienzan con la melodia original y de ahi se va repitiendo y desarrollando en diferentes tonalidades a lo largo de la pieza.
La letra dice:
“Bola! Que bueno que viniste!
Te quiero mucho!
Bola tonta! Adiós Bola!”
Escrita para flauta, clarinete, guitarra, piano, percusiones, violín, violoncelo y contrabajo tiene una duración aproximada de dos minutos.

Bola! Que bueno que viniste! (Bola! It’s good that you came!) is part of the piece Reconnection and is based on a little song my brothers and I sang in the car on our way back from our grandmother’s house. We had to sing it right at the moment when we saw a billboard which had a rotating effect due to its lighting in the street of ‘Viaducto’ in Mexico City. The first to sing it won.
The little melody with lyrics was invented by my mother so that we stay asleep and we sang it for several years of our childhood until we got bored or we outgrew it. The first five bars of the piece begin with the original melody and repeats and develops in different keys throughout the piece.
The lyrics are:
“Ball! I’m glad that you came!
I love you so much!
Silly Ball! Goodbye Ball! ”
The piece is approximately two minutes long and is recorded live at the Museo Universitario del Chopo in Mexico City on December 7, 2014 with Sahé Orozco – flute, Daniel Paz- clarinet, Mateo Rodriguez – guitar, Miguel Manriquez – percussions, Galel Sanchez – violin, Eric Franco – cello y Alejandro Martinez – double bass.

Todos Santos is a small coastal town at the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, on the Pacific coast side of the Baja California Peninsula, about an hour’s drive north of Cabo San Lucas on Highway 19 and an hour’s drive southwest from La Paz. Todos Santos is located very near the Tropic of Cancer in the municipality of La Paz. The population was 5,148 at the census of 2010. It is the second-largest town in the municipality.
More recently, there has been a gradual increase in tourist activity and a boom in real estate development. Handicraft shops, owner-operated art galleries featuring landscape paintings of local scenes (some artists from Guadalajara and other parts of Mexico also exhibit works in Todos Santos,) upscale restaurants, boutique hotels and restored colonial buildings have contributed to the gentrification and redevelopment of the town. The Hotel California is a favorite stop here because of the name association with the song made famous by the Eagles, even though the song does not specifically reference this particular hotel, nor any other existing hotel.
There are many beautiful beaches within a 15 minute drive of Todos Santos. However, some of the area’s beaches, with rip tides, undertows, and fairly steep drop offs that are close to shore, are not considered safe for swimming. Playa Las Palmas and Playa Los Cerritos are great beaches for swimming and shell collecting. San Pedrito Point, Los Cerritos and other local surf breaks attract surfers from around the world. There are many accommodations both at San Pedrito and at Cerritos beach.
Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, was named a “Pueblo Mágico” in 2006.
